(radio frequency identification)RFId (radio frequency identification) signifie littéralement "identification par fréquences radio". Il s’agit d’un très petit émetteur qui est intégré dans un objet pour diffuser l’ identité de celui-ci. La technologie RFId permet d’identifier un objet ou un produit à distance, par ondes radio, au moyen d’une puce électronique à identifiant unique. C’est la technologie utilisée dans les anti-vols de magasins. A terme, cette technologie est destinée à remplacer le code-barre sur les produits de consommation courante, avant de s’appliquer à d’autres biens et services. Alors qu’un code-barre ne peut être lu qu’à quelques centimètres de distance et selon un angle précis, une puce RFId permet une lecture dans un champ allant de 50 cm à 1,50 m. Cette puce peut être incorporée à des étiquettes pour la gestion des stocks. L’étiquette RFId est également appelée "étiquette électronique", "étiquette radio" ou encore "radio tag". Dès son lancement en 2004, cette étiquette est dénoncée par plusieurs organisations pour l’atteinte à la vie privée que représenterait son utilisation sur une personne. -
